Quarteira International Triathlon 2026: World Elite Returns to the Algarve
On March 28th and 29th, Quarteira becomes the European capital of triathlon. The XXIV Quarteira International Triathlon – Carlos Gravata brings together nearly 800 athletes from 20 nationalities, solidifying the Algarve as a top destination for high-performance sports and luxury tourism.
The Quarteira International Triathlon is back for its 24th edition, establishing itself as one of the most prestigious sporting events on the European calendar. On March 28th and 29th, 2026, the city welcomes the world’s elite, gathering nearly 250 international triathletes for the European Cup races, alongside the sport's rising stars in the Junior category.
World Elite in the Spotlight: High-Competition Saturday
Saturday, March 28th, will be entirely dedicated to the Elite races. Portugal presents a formidable selection, featuring Vasco Vilaça (2025 World Championship bronze medalist) and elite swimmer Miguel Tiago Silva in the men’s field. In the women’s competition, Olympian Maria Tomé leads the national representation against top-tier names like Luxembourg’s Jeanne Lehair.

The second day of competition focuses on developing new talent with the Junior European Cup.
