The championship features the six classes that prepare young sailors for the current Olympic classes: 29er, Ilca 6, Nacra 15, 420, IQFOIL, and Formula Kite. There will be 11 world championships running simultaneously across four race areas off Vilamoura, delivering intense competition and high-level sailing action.

Exceptional Conditions in December

Vilamoura is renowned for its ideal conditions even in December. According to Nuno Reis, director of Vilamoura Sailing, "December offers exceptional conditions. In eight years of activity, 98% of scheduled December races were completed, well above the international average. Vilamoura has become the winter training destination of choice for Olympic teams."

Sporting and Tourism Impact

The event attracts not only athletes but also hundreds of supporters, who will stay in Vilamoura for at least eight days, enjoying the beaches, marinas, golf courses, and local gastronomy. Throughout 2025, Vilamoura will host eight preparation events for the World Championship, allowing international sailors to train and explore the Algarve waters.
